How to Fix Android Phone Clicking on Touch Screen Automatically

Is your Android phone also automatically clicking on the touch screen? It is really annoying when you are typing something or using your phone in general and suddenly it starts clicking on the screen without your touch.

Clicking Touch screen problem

This problem is technically named Ghost Touch (don't worry, ghosting doesn't actually happen). You are not the only one who is facing this problem. This can happen on any device and there can be many reasons for this.

You might be thinking that the touch screen of your phone is damaged or broken, although this is not necessarily the case. Below we have discussed 10 methods that can help you fix this automatic touch click problem on your Android phone.

Remove tempered glass and back cover

Tempered glass protector is used to protect your phone screen from physical damage. A small crack in the tempered glass can cause problems with the touch screen and your phone may start clicking on its own.

If you are not using good quality tempered glass, then your phone screen may also not work properly. We recommend that you remove your tempered glass and clean the touch screen with a soft cloth.

If you are using the back cover that is covering the sides of the touch screen, remove that as well and check if the touch is working properly. This will probably fix the automatic touch click issue on your Android phone.

Clean the screen properly

Your phone may be clicking automatically on the touch screen due to dirt or moisture present on the screen. You must have noticed that there is a lot of moisture on the screen of your phone in the morning.

To remove all dirt or moisture from the screen, you can use a soft microfiber cloth. Be sure to clean the edges of the screen properly.

Update your phone software

There might be some touch display issue in your phone's software that is causing your phone to automatically click on the touch screen, however, this is a very rare case.

Software updates for Android phones also include improvements in touch screen performance. We recommend that you keep your phone up to date with the latest software.

To check if a software update is available for your phone, go to your phone's Settings and find the Software Update option. You will also be notified via notification when a new software update is available.

Reduce touch sensitivity

Some Android smartphones also have touch sensitivity feature in the settings which allows you to increase the sensitivity of touch i.e. your phone screen will become more sensitive to touch. This feature is useful if you are using your phone with a screen protector or gloves.

Touch sensitivity can cause an automatic touch click issue on your Android phone. We recommend you to turn this feature off. To turn it off, go to Settings > Advanced features > Touch sensitivity. We have used Samsung's smartphone as an example here.

Restart your phone

If you have accidentally installed a malware app on your phone and this is causing your phone's touch to work incorrectly, then uninstall that app immediately. If you are not able to uninstall it, then restart your phone or reboot in safe mode. The Safe Mode feature will temporarily disable downloaded apps on your phone.

Use the original charger to charge your phone

If you are using a local charger to charge the battery of your phone, then this could be causing this ghost touch issue. Your phone will automatically click on the touch screen as long as it is connected to the charger.

If you will continue to use the local charger for a long time then this problem may be permanent in your phone. We recommend that you always charge your phone with the original charger. Also, check the voltage and current supply of the charger.

Try Touchscreen Repair App

An app called Touchscreen Repair is available for the Google Play Store. This app claims to fix your touchscreen by reducing response time and removing touch lag. We are not really sure if this app will help you fix Ghost Touch problem on your phone, but you can give it a try.

Get your phone repaired at a service center

If your phone screen is damaged or damaged then you will need to get it repaired at a service center. You will be suggested to replace your phone's screen (or folder) as it is not possible to fix a cracked or damaged screen in most cases.

Physical damage is not counted under warranty, so you will have to pay for it and the fee will be quite high. Also, it is not a guarantee that your phone will work properly in the future. We would suggest you to buy a new smartphone instead.
